Community Based Restorative Practices Course 19 – 23 January 2015 Queens University Belfast

The 5 day short course provides a framework for participants to explore the principles, practices and  values of community based restorative practice. It offers the opportunity to extend or develop skills and learn new models of practice in terms of mediation, restorative and community conferencing and to transfer this learning into their own situations.

  • To understand the development and context of restorative practices in Northern Ireland.
  • To examine the key principles and values of community based restorative practices and the differences between community based programmes and ‘state’ run programmes.
  • To consider models of practice at a local level and internationally and identify key themes and approaches.
  • To explore the opportunities for restorative approaches within the wider context of conflict transformation.
  • To identify, learn and practise the skills required to facilitate restorative processes.

This is a practitioner based course likely to be of interest to those working in the areas of conflict transformation and security sector reform.
